Small Town Life | My Life

June 26, 2013

Over the course of the last year I have moved my family 4 times.  I feel almost like we’ve ping pong’d back and forth across the country.  That isn’t really accurate because when we moved from Texas last year we’ve just continued to move further west, but still it’s been a lot of moving.

First Reno, NV (one of my all time favorite places, my hometown and where most of our family lives), then it was going to be Seattle, WA (which I was excited for living in the Pacific Northwest, not looking forward to overcast skies, but it was going to be an adventure) and finally Ukiah, CA (at the Northern edge of wine country with a beautiful Mediterranean climate).

So here we are in Ukiah.  Where is that you ask?  I’ll tell you.  It’s the largest town in Mendocino county and it’s two hours away from San Francisco, an hour from the coast and five hours away from our family.  It’s a really nice little place, definitely small town feel.  We are literally walking distance from everything.  Mostly, cute little local shops and the few people I’ve meet here I already run into anytime I leave the house it seems.

We have a beautiful yard and fruit trees (this weekend we’re harvesting peaches and there will be canning, freezing, peach salsa, peach ice cream, grilled peaches, peach cobbler, peach pie and peach baby food made).  And while it’s hard being away from family and it’s been really hard constantly moving and adjusting to new places I’m excited about Ukiah, being with my beautiful girls all day everyday and getting to focus 100% on my photography (business and creative).

Just a little visual tour of our new home in Ukiah.
