Watermelon Sorbet | Homemade Goodness

June 4, 2014

I think since it’s reached above 90 degrees I’m justified in saying that summer is here.  Since summer is here that means I’m a bit busier.  Sometimes though to stay sane through the shoots and the editing and raising two little girls you just have to do something fancy.  So here is my sanity inducing something fancy for today: watermelon sorbet in my grandmother’s teacup.  I suppose since I can’t drink tea anyway that this is a better use for the teacup.  Mmmmm mmmmm yum!

The recipes for this sorbet is pretty easy too….

Ingredients:

1/2 c sugar

3/4 cup water

5 cups watermelon chunks (without seeds)

1 lime

Directions:

1. Stirring often, mix the water and sugar together in a sauce pan on high heat until the sugar is well dissolved and the mixture boils. Once it boils turn the stove off and let sit.

2. Slice and juice the lime into a blender, add the watermelon chunks and the water and sugar mixture.  Blend until very smooth. Set blended mixture into refrigerator to chill for about 40 minutes.

3. Pour mixture into frozen ice cream maker and run for 30 minutes (or if you don’t have an ice cream maker put mixture in a freezer safe container and place in freezer)

4. Enjoy!
