Cedar Cone Christmas | DIY

December 12, 2013

I Don’t really consider myself a crafter, but I like coming up with ideas and I like making stuff so when Juliette found these cones at the park I couldn’t resist doing something with them. I think they look just like little wooden roses. So pretty by themselves, it’s really pretty amazing the things that nature make. Anyway, on this day while Angie and myself and our kiddos were at the park I decided that I wanted to do something with these cones so we set Vera and Juliette out to collect as many as they could find. We ended up with a great big bag full. I wanted to make a wreath but their shape didn’t fit in a wreath well so I made a half pom to put on our door. The base is a circle I cut out of scrap cardboard and a half dome I made from old hanging wire. Once I had the base I used a glue gun to attach the cones. I put a ribbon around the edge to hide the cardboard and the hanger is a loop cut from an old pair of tights that I looped through a hole I punched in the cardboard. There were some extra cones so I piled them on a plate with a couple pillar candles. I think it looks pretty and even Jeff said he liked it!
